Reverse osmosis Membrane

A reverse osmosis (RO) membrane is a semi-permeable barrier used in water purification to remove dissolved salts, chemicals, and other impurities by applying pressureIt typically consists of a thin polyamide layer on a polysulfone support layer, which is itself on a polyester fabric. This structure, often configured in a spiral-wound or hollow-fiber format, allows water molecules to pass through while blocking larger contaminant molecules under pressure.

Product Details

  • High rejection rate:
RO membranes can reject 95-99% or more of dissolved salts and contaminants.
  • Application-specific:
Membranes are designed for different uses, such as industrial processes or residential water purification, and are available in various sizes.
  • Susceptible to fouling:
The membranes can be fouled by deposits, which is why pre-treatment and a flow restrictor are used to flush contaminants and maintain performance.
